Hi guys,

I have had an idea about my next project and i would like to pick your minds....

I would like to make an enclosure with 2 identical distortion pedals inside, my idea is that you can set two completely different sounds and then switch between them with a footswitch, I would also like to bypass the whole lot with a footswitch, I would also like an LED to indicate which circuit is active and one to show if the pedal is bypassed or not.

My first question would have to be what would be a good effect circuit to use, I would be thinking along the line of a tubescreamer clone, maybe something with a vintage/normal selection. good warm sound.

Secondly i would like to know how hard it is to do the switching between the circuits without popping and also the LED indicators.

Also if i'm on the totally wrong track please let me know, maybe this is a really bad idea

Cheers for reading my thread and I always really appreciate your replies

this is a fairly common exercise - check my layouts gallery for a wiring diagram.

Most of the pedals I make end up being dual pedals, and while using them, especially at shows, where distraction abounds, it seems more intuitive/less fiddly to just put the two circuits and their bypasses in series, so you are only one stomp away from the sound you want, from a bypassed state.  It ended up being distracting having to select which circuit to use and then hitting the bypass to turn it on...

I agree with this 100%.

Hi guys,

cheers for the replies,

in the case of the serial pedals, what happens when you are playing with distortion on both pedals and want to go clean quickly, wouldn't you have to press to switches?

also what is a good distortion effect to use in this situation?

Cheers
Matt
