I'm working on a slow gear and I'm still new to DIY. My problem is that I need a 20k lin pot but I don't have one. Can I add resistors or something to get the 20k value? What I do have is the following:10k, 50k, 100k and 250k. Can I make any of these work?

Thanks for the help

50k might work fine or better even.
50k across the outside lugs would make about 25k [parallel resistors divide].
Insufficient immediate info to answer 'how would it matter'.

For the Slow Gear attack control you could use a 50k pot with 47k across the wiper and outer lug that's being used. This will give you as maximum of around 25k as Peter said. That will just mean the maximum attack time is a bit longer than if it were 20k. The taper of the pot will not be linear either. Try it and see....
