Where can i buy this part:

Thanks a lot !!

Looks like a pair of 10-segment LED Bargraph displays stacked end-to-end.  I have a few dozen Kingbright green LED Bargraph displays that I bought at a hamfest a long time ago.   I doubt if I will ever use them all.  Email me and I can send you a few if you cover the postage from 18353, USA, or you can get them from various suppliers, like Jameco (part number 697469 for example).

Look up the app notes for that chip, they'll show schematically how to stack multiples of them for more resolution.

Actually looking that up, I found out the LM3915 has a logarithmic response, like what you would want for audio level monitoring, and the LM3914 has a linear response, like you would want for monitoring control voltages, like a slow LFO on a phaser or flanger.

Pardon my ignorance - but what exactly is a 'Cornish Screen' (I've heard of a Cornish Hen) ?  I couldn't find anything on AltaVista...

I believe he's referring to Pete Cornish. A well known stompbox maker, he has his own designs, and makes awesome pedalboards. David guilmour as an example.

It's not a screen, what you see in the photo are two 10-segment LED Bargraph display stacked together and driven maybe by two LM3915 cascaded for 60dB range (-40dB to +3dB to be exact). The builder is Pete Cornish.
