One thing: if you need distortion, tight and good, you'll need to pump up the volume. Or, if you are confident enough in your skills, disconnect the high pass capacitor on volume pot.

CUT control is crucial in my opinion too.

I tested several things ideas on a real AC30, before build my "May I?" distortion. It's a derivative of May Queen, but I put some small bits of what I've found usefull for the real thing.
