anyone tried the new EH version?
  Just the old ones.
   how does it perform?
Assuming it is an LPB circuit, exactly like LPB.
  is it mod friendly?
Good question, what kind of mod did you have in mind, I don't see that it would really need to be.

Right on the border-price of what generally comes with Plastic jacks in SMD/mini PCB...or
The 'features' I'd look for: a metal box w/metal jacks and DPDT, power jack, small size, stompbox version.
I like my little Si booster.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Considering how easy they are to clone, I'd recommend not buying it, even for that price. You will get more satisfaction (and tweakability) out of making it yourself

GibsonGM

Really....for about $24, you can get all the parts, switch and box included, from Small Bear.  And you'll end up with a circuit tailored for your rig, which you should then be happy with :o)

They sound just fine.

They are NOT surface mount, so they're mod friendly.

Easy to build, but for $39 I guess you just weigh the "time vs. money" factor.

Yep. The Hog's Foot and Screaming Tree are tweaked LPB circuits.
I am not responsible for your imagination.

Not really much to tweak in this circuit, but as stated above the Hogs foot and Screaming bird/tree are similar with only some slightly different component values. I'd recommend that you buy the EH pedal. Since it is commercially available and quite cheap too, you should support the manufacturer. Then build another one yourself which you tweak into a treble booster by changing the input/output capacitors to a lower value. And THEN run the treble version into the original and enjoy the result!  :icon_twisted:

IF you aren't good at making enclosures, buying one and researching mods at your leisure would have a good fun:work ratio.

I have one. It's nice, has a great smooth tone, but I like the "Beginner Project" Boost much better. It's tone is a little sweeter and I find it easier to control. The LPB is LOUD and pushes the amp into overdrive sooner/harsher than the Beginner project boost. If you like that, then go for it. Time + Parts vs. supporting E~H is a toughie. I chose to buy it.

I have to confess, I didn't bother modding it. I can't think of anything I want to "make it do". Plus, I just have that sneaking hope in the back of my mind that in the future they'll be "vintage" and I can sell an "all-original un-modded mint condition" pedal for mucho bucks when I didn't even like it that much.  ;D
