Special thanks to slacker for all the help getting this effect working.
The intro, schem, and layout are here:

It's excellent.  The 'tails' feature is very cool...similar to my Echo Park!  Mine sound just like slacker's sound clips, so posting anything would be redundant.
The only sub I made was a 2N5087 for the BC560 - worked great (don't forget to flip it 180deg)!

Here are a few pictures for your entertainment - fits just fine in a 1590bb enclosure:

Quite the rats-nest, eh?  It looked a lot better when it was 'flowered' out for testing...
It works great and is NOT noisy - even though it's not true bypass...

Only thing I have left is to decide which image to use:

...don't know what to say, radar stations feel like a perfect fit for an echo effect...

So... build with confidence - it's a great circuit.  Probably the most complicated vero effect I've built... but with slacker's help (and my trusty audio probe) we got it working.

If anyone else is building this and needs some help, slacker has a detailed list of pin voltages and how to trace the audio path (including what audio should be coming out of which pins - VERY useful).  Feel free to post your questions here.

Happy building!!
Mike

Looks great Mike, really cool to see another one brought to life  :)
Glad the transatlantic debugging paid off, I'll get all the info posted on the main thread.
Thanks again for taking the time to build this and cheers for the build report, hopefully it will inspire some more people to have a go at it.

As soon as I can get around to it I'd like to build this one.
I'd like to build it on PCB though.
The modulation control is really what sets it apart!!

Looks good mike.

Another use for the Echo Base... Karaoke delay...

So last weekend I was subjected to yet another of my girlfriends karaoke parties... these things are painful...
While I pickeled myself (mmm... gin) I thought - man, these people really need some help...
...so I went down to my studio, grabbed a tube pre (had to get the XLR into the 1/4) and wired it all up... it helped a LOT!!
...it even masked my awful voice a little... I'm sure the gin helped a lot!!

The next day I tried phaser, chorus, and distortion pedals with mixed results... fun none the less!

Happy building.
Mike

Well this... this is just silly... this can't fit in a 1590B... can it? And you're not even using SMD you mad man!

Are there any verified PCB layouts for this?  Last time I looked the only PCB version I found was on a Japanese site.  Couldn't read it so couldn't tell anything about it.

sorry i'm not keep picture for these process. you may do like this:
1. use sand papaer 320 grid and clean surface with "Ronsonol"(lighter fuel)
2. spray white color (about 2 time)
3. spray some water
4. "blue color" i use metallic blue
5. now i let it dry by sunlight then spray clear cloat about 2-3 time
for the font panel i use clear stricker for laser printer. :icon_biggrin:
sorry about my conversation i not good for english. i am thai.

Here is my confirmed layout if you're interested:
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v368/soma_hero/?action=view&current=echo_basecopy.jpg

That layout was a little snug so I spaced it out. Use the parts layout above since I didn't mark the parts in this layout. Parts and placement is the same just a little spaced out.

that's a great layout. but when i tried to print it at 300dpi it turned out to be too small(holes for dip14 doesn't match). what dpi should i print or what are dimensions of that board?
