Hi there,

just built a Red Llama clone from Markm layout (the old version) and the volume pot works backwards although it is wired properly from the layout and there is no fuzz, just a volume boost.  Any idea what could cause this ??

Here's Markm Layout (sorry Mark please let me know if you want this removed) :

The only different part I used was a regular electrolytic cap for C5 instead of a tantalum.

Any ideas??

If the volume pot is reversed swap the wires from the outer 2 lugs.......... ;)

Thanks... did that... same story.  If I push the IC with a booster before the pedal there is some fuzz there but not alot... ?   ???

Does the Gain pot do anything? More data required.

solarplexus

the gain pot does very little but add only volume.

check values for R1 and r6. its a voltage divider and can be lowering the signal too much.. try lowering R1 for more gain..
check the gain pot also..

No, it can't be the same story if you wired it correctly. It would be worth checking your resistor values, solder joints etc. You can build the circuit without a board in about 30 mins, it would be easier to rebuild than to debug.

The pins for the buffers should be around half the supply voltage if that helps any.
