Rangemasters beg for loud tube amps. It's like it needs to have the amp right on the edge and then it can do it's thing to totally push it over the top.

Strangely enough my rangemaster sounds better through my SS amp than my tube one  ??? It is best for spanking fuzzes though I find. I've still got a couple of other ge trannies so I'll try and make another couple.

Doesn't need to be loud, just need to be (near) cranked...  ;)

I love this thing.

Tube amps need to be cranked, with or without a RM  ;D

in my experience, the RM tends to love Marshall, or Marshall types.  I just don't sound that good w/ my Fenders...

I used to think the Rangemaster required a cranked amp to sound good, now I'm not so sure. My latest Rangemaster with my latest amp sounds amazing with the amp clean. I don't know if it's the cv7112 transistor I used or the amp, which along with the alnico spkr is pretty responsive, or both. The Rangemaster is a great high bang-for-the-buck project for sure, though.
