i'm modding my tube scremaer, and i would like to build a switch , that could change between a 20k and a 50k resistor
could someone walk me through how i could do this, or draw a simple diagram

would u reccoment using a 50k pot, how would i do that?
thanks!

i have a dpht switch handy, could i uses this?

imagine the numbers below correspond to the lugs on a dpdt:

      1  6
      2  5
      3  4

1.  connect the point that would normally connect to the one side of the resistor to lug2.
2.  connect your 20k resistor to lug1 and lug6
3.  connect your 50k resistor to lug3 and lug4
4.  connect the point that would normally connect to the other side of the resistor to lug5.

that's it!  you could even use an spdt instead...

if you use the "search" function, there are loads of posts on switch wiring, btw... ;)

The simplest way is to put a 20k and a 30k resistor in series to get 50k. Then use a spst switch to short the 30k, leaving 20k. If you don't want to buy another switch just use one of the centre poles and one of the outside poles of the switch you have (i.e use poles 1 and 2).

Note that 20k and 30k resistors are a little uncommon so you may want to sub an 18k and a 33k for almost identical results.
