Which position

So I have a 2 transistor fuzz I've been toying with.
I broke the lead on one of the GE transistors so now I only have one.
I have plenty of si ones, so which would sound better, the GE 1st or 2nd?

which transistor has a higher hfe?
put the one with the lower hfe first, then the higher one second

A link to the schematic would be useful in determining the best order. Or, breadboard it up and just try it both ways     I usually do all my selecting by ear and not numbers

Sorry for being vague.
It's a fuzz face I built, but I only have one germanium transistor so I was wondering if it should go before a silicon 2n2907 or after.
I should just buy another matched pair and be done with it.
I built a Tonebender MKII with 3 matched GE's from Small Bear and it sounds great.
