I've been searching google for a while now and have not seen any mods for the Danelectro FAB series pedals.

I got the D-2 Fab Overdrive a few months back and would like to try getting some of the buzz out of it because its just a little too noisy for my taste.

It's those SMD components that discourage mods- too small for humans, especially if yer fingers are like sausages(like me).

I remember seeing a schematic that showed it to be a TS type thingy with asymmetrical clipping... possibly if ya monkey with the diodes?

Probably it is possible to make slight improvement to signal/noise ratio with the FT.
Build it outright experiment with using  'low noise' components where 'high noise' is...pretty sure that pedal..boosts, filters, boosts, clips, boosts, filters boosts clips [maybe not in that order, but hundreds of X of gain is applied then, a big part of the enlarged signal is then clipped back down, which is a recipe for noise.
It is a noisy high gain pedal, I've had 3 or 4 [replacements, probably something I was doing was blowing some of them up], have one here..Super High Gain Clipping tones, highly filtered, and..noisy.
IOW...long way around the noise [there's no short way with teeny components] is build it up and experiment, but I would expect the goal would be slight improvement in noise...there's really only so much you can do when you multiply/divide repeatedly, noise multiplies...but doesn't divide so good, ya never know though.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.
