Hi everyone,

I finally got around to populating the PCB I etched a couple of months ago.  After a couple of missteps (swapped tip and ring connections on input and put all the JFETs in backwards even with a note added to the layout saying that the 2N5485s were backwards from the 2N5952s), it sounds great.  :icon_biggrin:  I didn't do any matching on the JFETs yet because I can't find my matcher.  Even so,  it sounds amazing.   This is the earlier version without the gain stage at the end, so I am losing some signal through it.  When I box it up, I'll probably throw a mosfet boost or something in with it.   Either that, or I'll run the Omega after it.   I'll try to get some clips recorded soon.

Thanks markm and R.G. and everyone else.

Now I need to build me a Brown Super(6G4-A) or Twin(6G8-A)  if I want to have some real volume.  I've played a brown super once and this captures the 'vibe'  (pun intended) quite well.  So many amps.  So little time.

Again, thanks.

Matt.

where'd you get the schem (and/or pcb) for the Vibratone?

Schematic on GEO (http://www.geofex.com); don't know where markm is keeping layouts these days. Maybe here.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Layouts are here in markm's gallery:

The new (gain-corrected) version is in on the first page.  The old one that I did is on the 3rd page (I think).  The PCBs are there also, but it took some work to get the scale right.
