Well this... this is just silly... this can't fit in a 1590B... can it? And you're not even using SMD you mad man!

I thought everyone who could solder two wires together already was selling effects. Is that not true?

What does soldering skills have to do with anything?
I've bought two projects from people recently that looked like monkeys blind from syphilis soldered them together.
They were both described as 'nicely done'.

Yu-huh.
Nicely done - at getting my money for stuff I had to strip down to a parts list and start over with.

Always require gut shots when getting something another builder hasn't finished  lessons learned & all that.

As far as a $1300.00 Bew-Teek dirtbox goes, I hope it comes with a small P2P wired tube amp in a finger jointed polished birch cabinet.  ;D

Cheers

Sorry what is this?

It's allegedly one of the legendary overdrives built by Clay Jones who was/is a member here. He built and sold 50 of these pedals a few years ago and since then they've become ridiculously expensive, presumably because people buy them as investments as opposed to actually using them.

The guy selling that pedal didn't build it though, it's second hand, which makes the price even more insane.

Yeah, but how many can do the groovy swirl paint job?  That must be why they are so expensive. :icon_wink:

bonkdav

ive been building things for personal or for friends as gifts or for parts money.  boy do i need to learn how to swirl paint.

At first I thought it was a stupid ebay joke. But there is a  revue on harmony central and there is a buzz going on some other forums. I saw a pic of the insides and it looks like a rat took a turd in that tube screamer clone. The revue wasnt great. Why in the world is that selling for so much?
Class A booster , Dod 250 , Jfet booster, Optical Tremolo, Little Gem 2,  mosfet boost, Super fuzz , ESP stand alone spring reverb red Llama omni-drive , splitter blender ,

NEVER use gorilla glue for guitar repairs! It's Titebond , Elmers, or Superglue

Ed G.

Because he made 50, and he's said he ain't making more.
I'm sure it sounds great. I'm not sure that it sounds any better than what most people here can do, and I think Clay would say so much.
All the hype surrounding these pedals is pretty much out of Clay's control. He made a run of pedals, sold them for what I'm sure was a reasonable price, they got hyped, and being a limited item, who knows what the price will go up to?

Nisei

Just curious; does anybody know the original price?

Exactly, it's unfair criticising Clay (or his work) over this: he has no control over what they sell for secondhand.

I kinda wonder why Clay hasn't found that other box of fifty units that he forgot about under the workbench.   :icon_biggrin:

$960,- for a simple pedal.  ???
Surely this must be a joke. I simply refuse to believe it.

I'm gonna build ten pedals over xmas and never build them again.  They should be fetching $5k by this time next year  :icon_rolleyes:

gez

From what I gather, the reason the pedal is sought after is because a name player used (uses?) one.

Read Clay's post, let it drop, and move on...

Who are these "big" muscians who have them or used them?
