CM Makes it, looks fancy with nice controls.
I would read reviews at HC on it.

I was more curious if there was any mojo or whether the circuit was a glorified version of something else i.e.  ross, etc.

it´s not a glorified version of a ross, it works with a THAT 4301 IC dynamics processor (contains vca, rms detector and 3xopamps) chip.
i like it very much, it is capable of a lot of things, no one trick pony. especially good with bass guitar.
has a mains transformer built in, runs on +/- 12V internally; no true bypass, but a buffered bypass (lf351) of the better sort (some people report a little bit of high end loss in the bypassed signal, i could not hear anything like that and i am normally very picky and try all my pedals with headphones as well to hear all the things that happen, also in the highest registers).
mesa boogie uses the same chip for the comps in their big bass amp series (bass 600 and the like).

:icon_rolleyes: Looked at the the app notes for the chip and found a couple of compressors with the same controls as he has built.  So apparently nothing original from him.  Probably built one of the circuits the THAT engineers came up with.
