been a silent but obsessive DIYstompboxes reader for some time! Love this forum! This is my first pedalboard build, a step by step can be found here if interested:

Have a great weekend all!

the preamp from Marshall JCM2000 powered be a nixie supply( the whole board runs off a single 9volt supply such 1spot or similar), coupled up with some inexpensive behringer boxes and a carvin wha I had laying around( after changing the pot, its quite good)..all I need is a cab and a poweramp and I'll allways have my sound.. ;D

and some sounds.. http://www.aronnelson.com/DIYFiles/up/pedalboardtest.mp3  I do like the Ultrashifter for those harmonies at the end.
this was recorded straight into computer using a cabsim from line6 ampfarm

Signal flow: Sterno Face (yellow knobs, thanx jimi!)> Polytuner> Micro POG> 3 in one (Dynacomp>Anderton TSF> P45)>Pink box (BMP> Green Ringer)> Thomeeque TDA1022 EM> Morley Volume pedal> GGG AD3205 modded for 2 MN3005's> Madbean Aquaboy (2X MN3005)
Mostly DIY. Lots of sonic possibilities and loads of fun!
Mystery lounge. No tables, chairs or waiters here. In fact, we're all quite alone.

Question: this is a board I'm building for a friend and it's going to see heavy gigging. It's held together mostly by wood glue, which I know is incredibly strong. Should I 'secure' it with screws as well?

Most definitely. The glue will almost certainly crack over some time of heavy gigging. A row of tack strip on the sides couldn't hurt either.

I'm sorry sir, we only have the regular ohms.

Thanks HYSH, I put in some screws. Here's the finished board. The cheapo power supply is 'sunk' into the board. The other pedals are just to gauge it's size (50 cm x 38 cm), except the Morley, that's in the right spot.

It is probably a good idea, mostly because it doesn't look like the glue joints are great, there is no mechanical joint, and most importantly because they are all cross grain joints, which have much less strength than parallel long grain joints.  If you really wanted it to hold up with just glue, you should have half lapped the joints, or something similar.  As it is, I'd use counter sunk screws and cap the counter bores with matching hardwood plugs.

Here's my little mix of underrated digital + cheap analog + DIY. Click on the pic to go to flickr where you can see the notes.

See the switches you have used for your custom up/down pedals, what is the correct name for this type of pedal and/or where would I get some? I need four for my new build because you've just given me a great idea

FiveseveN

Wow, that brings back memories! The UP/DOWN footswitch comes with the V-Amp, it's not custom. Those are actuators that press on regular microswitches and I've seen them in a lot of multieffects and controllers. Couldn't tell you where to buy them from, though. Sorry.

Similar switches are used in many Line6 pedals, M9 and M13 for example. There's a guy who replaces them with higher quality switches, maybe he could sell you see used parts. I can't find the link to his website, but google will help...

so I'm dropping all my current projects (except a few builds) so I can finish an album. it seems I ALWAYS have something I want to do that will eat my free time, and for years I've had this idea of what I want to do, along with a few rough tracks. I'd half ass some work on it occasionally but "projects" always got in the way. none of that, now. my weekends and part of my evenings will now belong to this.

moved my setup to right behind my computer, so I can track.

wooooow guys, awesome looking boards  ;D !

here is mine, actually - here are 3 suitcases  :)

input 2 output : korg tuner, ross comp, pearl OC7, ts808, heavily moded eh ss (8stage), heavily moded gcb95, eh bad stone (w/ built in ff), dls, ocd v4, ce2, fraverb (w/ ext eeprom), and echo base

I've been trying for several months to find the time to gather all the docs to share, especially for the 8 stage small stone.... I hope I'll do that by the end of january....

wish you all the best,
keep on building pedals  ;)!

Gotta make a couple more patch cables for my open road.
I needed to add my wah back to my board.
YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT LARGE PEDALBOARDS....

.... I BET YOU WISH YOUR PEDALBOARD WAS AS LARGE AS MINE

weasle76

Some awesome work on here guys, I've got a way to go yet!

Signal flow >>> Coloursound Inductorless wah (in Bespeco shell), JOK3RX Black Forest (w/stomp switches for E.Q voicing and gain boost), DOD 250 clone, generic LM386 O/D w/BMP tone control, Full Cream Boost (Gus' NPN boost/beginner project), Ibanez Soundtank Super Chorus, John Hollis' Easy Vibe.

There is an extra space at the end for a delay, I'm just waiting on the bits to be delivered.

Keep up the good work everyone!

Wayne.

-DAM Meathead with AMZ Super Buffer, which is always on.
-Snow White Auto Wah
-Really Cheap Compressor & Guyatone Zoom Distortion
-Rose Screamer
-CE-2 Chorus
-Phase 90
-Echo Park
-Jamman Solo XT
-FA-1

The Super Buffer has a second output that's connected to the Lehle P-Split. The P-Split's direct output feeds the tuner, the isolated output can be used for direct recording or it goes through a volume pedal and a Verbzilla (Octo mode) to a second amp to produce an ambient sound independent from the main signal.

The big shot looper is not yet connected, I'll use it between the drive and the modulation pedals. One loop for a Whammy 4, one for variying other pedals.

Occasionally, I'll add a Vox Wah (switchable to Kay Fuzztone) before the Meathead.

All those extra pedals sit on another little board. This way, I have a small board for 90% of the time and a simple way to expand it if needed.

The main board is big enough to include a simple looper like the Harley Benton FXL4 or Moen GEC438 or GEC9, if the tuner and the footswitch for the jamman are moved to the top of the power supply (a Fame DCT-200).

I used a case myde by Thon, that was made for a Pod HD500. HarNorth cables, Hicon jacks and Duotec tape, which is much better than velcro.

^^^  Do you have everything bolted down on that faceplate?  Maybe the standard box should be flanged lid so you can mount the box to the pedalboard and keep it from falling off or getting stolen.
