i've been experimenting with the tube reamer circuit and found a good distortion by using 2 red leds as clippers and a 4558 opamp.

now i'm wondering how to add a tone control to this circuit.

This should work for a basic tone control.  It gets more involved with a tone stack (bass, mid and treble).

Hi,
This is what I did to the TS circuit, removed the active tone control and replaced it with the SWT passive tone circuit............works well.
I also did a heap of other things as well,  you can see my tinkerings called the 'Flatdrive'.
I posted the schematic in the Gallery a few weeks back.

I used a Mark Hammer's "Stupidly Wonderful Tone Control" (SWTC) (http://hammer.ampage.org/files/SWTC.gif) using this values:

R = 1K8
P1 = 22KA
C = 10nF

It works well

I'll give that a shot. Does this insert before output volume?

Immediately before.  The goal is to provide treble cut in a manner that does not interact with volume setting.  Do take a look at Jack Orman's clever extensions of this basic principle.  http://www.muzique.com/lab/swtc.htm
