What may be the reason for the two smoothing 1mF caps after the diode bridge (Neovibe layout). The "smoothness" of the rectified voltage depends on capacity that is clear, but does it go even better when we use 2 caps instead of just one - twice as big?

thanks, i am just probably trying to get too much into details as usuall ...

It was for physical size - I wanted to put 2000uF on the board, and two 1000uF caps were easier to fit and shorter than one 2000uf.

There are reasons for using multiple parallel caps instead of one single one at high power levels and very high frequencies, but for low power 60 Hz, it's just how many uF do you need.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

R.G. thank you, another riddle sorted  :)
