How to wire an FS-5U

I recently purchased an RC-20XL, and I wanted to make something like this:

It's 3 momentary foot switches... 2 control next and previous phrases, and the other is for reverse of the loop.

I'm wondering if the wiring is just a matter of connecting the switch to the appropriate jack, or if there is something else going on in there like a digital/midi switching system?

If someone could also make me a wiring diagram that would be fantastic.

I built a switch controller for my RC-2.  The switches are just spst ground/open momentary, all the logic to recognize that it has been pressed is in the RC-x pedal.

So it's basically just 3 switches that connect to ground when pressed, and then short ground when released?

I made 2 layouts because I'm not sure which connection on the stereo jack is used for the UP and DOWN funtions.

Can anyone tell me which one, if any of them, is right?

Either of those should work.  You have the right idea, the switch is momentarily grounded, normally open.

I guess I won't break anything if I wire it like #1 instead of #2... it'll just go up instead of down, or vice versa.
