Hey everybody. I've been looking around here and reading posts and I finally decided to join.
Anyway, I tried to breadboard the beginner's project on this forum. I didn't have the right components and it made some
wierd distorted crunch with no sustain, and I had to strum so hard that I was afraid of breaking my strings. So I took it apart and moved on.
I now want to make the PWM that I found about 2/3 the way down on this page: http://www.geocities.com/tpe123/folkurban/fuzz/snippets.html
I am pretty sure I could build it if I order the right components. I have found the 40106 Schmitt Trigger thing (must be some kind of oscillator),
but I haven't found the "386D JRC" IC in the schematic. I was wondering if anybody could help me out with this. My thought is that it is just some
kind of op-amp chip, but I'm still not sure about it. I was also wondering if anybody has built this thing yet and could tell me if it works or not.
All help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi 501, welcome to the board.

The JRC386D referenced is pretty much equivalent to the NJM386D you can find here: http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=207 or here: http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?qs=Q%2f2SSTfRgqEmrzu4DuzU9g%3d%3d

The JRC part stands for Japan Radio Corporation which changed its name to NJM Corporation a while ago. That's why they are all NJM parts now.

Good luck with the project!

You don't have to use the 386, you could use any opamp setup for a lot of gain.     I breadboarded it and it's a cool sounding circuit with lots of room for tweaking and additions.

cool. Thanks  ;D
I think I can get it from here.
