I was at it again, too. A friend of mine said that he really likes the COT50 (he's got an original) but with singlecoils the output is lower than unity plus he'd like tone control. AND it should be a mini pedal. After modifying a Speaker Cranker (also = Electra) to COT50 specs and fiffling with a BMP tonestack directly on a pot plus a booster at the end I gave up cramming all these loose parts into a 1590a  and etched a PCB. This is what I came up with and I must say: Either I got overly enthused the first time I tried it (or it sounds really great) I'm going to make me one, too. Because this i great and could possibly replace most Overdrives I have atm.

Really neat pedal! And I'm jealous on those beautiful etchings!  :o

First try at a 1590a and let me tell you what... Unless there is a specific reason to build one I dont think I will do it again.  Had to go to the darkside for this one as I used 0805 smt resistors and lower value caps.  Everything is touching... Not really keen on that.  It's a Nurse Quacky by the way... Sounds freaking great though.   I do like the option of being able to do bigger builds in normal size enclosures with the smd parts though so I'm glad I took the plunge. Have to work on my soldering for smt.  Might go the solder paste and hot air rework gun route.  Hope you guys like it.... Peace

I looked at hot air stations for a while, ended up just getting a $200 reflow oven. I do SMD for everything. Not because I have to, but because I can. Now I'm at the point that soldering a through-hole board is tedious and feels like it takes forever :P

Build looks great by the way ;D

Yeah, we all say that.  And then we keep doing it regardless.   :icon_rolleyes:

Nice build, despite the pain.   ;D

That! You'll surely do it again :icon_lol: The main reasons to do 1590As are the small size and the challenge to do it. Sooner or later you'll be looking at a schematic and thinking "well, I can do it for a 1590B, but could it fit a 1590A? Let's give a try".

Nice build! Despite the cheating you did by using smd :icon_rolleyes: (just kidding). You had a hard time because it was your first one, and also you used onboard pots and that closed jacks that takes too much space. With smaller/open jacks and offboard pots, you can fit in more complex circuits.

quack attack. very nice.

no no no, you got this barse ackwards. because you have no reason to do it, you do do it.

My first completed build in 2020 - although I designed a PCB for it in January 2019 - Lava, or EQD Erupter.

I forgot to shoot internals, but now I'm too lazy to disassemble it again  :-[

That's a pair of sweet little builds, Ranko.  Nice way to start the new year!  :icon_cool:

I decided to do my first build in a 1590A because why not. It's a Bazz Fuss with some extra power filtering and reverse polarity protection also because why not. The finish is grey hammertone paint from Home Depot.

Very nice build.  But please put that toothed washer on the inside of the pedal where it doesn't bother my OCD.   ;D

Hi,

just wanted to show off my 1590A builds of last year. The super lead is an electra style od utilizing a mosfet and some schottkys, the orion is simply an dam red rooster clone and finally, the calvera is a modified ea tremolo. So, nothing fancy at all. But I like them. :)

Helge

Beauties. Is it hammered spray finish?

Thanks Temol! Yes, it is. Also the gold. Just cheapo rattle cans bought of local super market special offers.

Does it bother your other Fulltone products as well?

I'll let myself out...

I'm extremely pleased with this one. Not because there's much stuffed into it but the fact that I designed layout and board so that the trim pot adjustment screw would show through a hole in the top. I measured it all out and it fits perfectly. Maybe nothing special to you guys but a near miracle for me!
SHO no crackle, trim adjusts for clean or gritty boost in the normal way. Labels for switch, screw and knob seemed enough. Vinyl sticker labels

Extra points for the trim adjustment hole.
