I didn't think it could be done...

Way to GO! That's pretty awesome, you could say it's special. Good stuff.

Hats's off for you sir. A job very well done. That's the spirit never give up.
Still a lot of room in there for some thing though ;).

^Oh yeah, that's what I use now. I'm hoping there's something smaller than that. :)

There is..
I use the female side of a jack meant to be used for a wire. It's only 7mm and fits on top of pot's etc. If you put it in the top end you can use the space normally not used between the "screw pillars" like this.

Thx m8s !!

that was my 2nd build in a 1590A (the first one was a booster so.. nah that's too easy !  :D) and it was really hard to fit everything in, at least before to "learn" how to move things inside, still wiring could have been done in a better way but that mean dismount everything again!! not for the moment!!

@jacob, yes it's really special (at least for me!) so special that I cannot even make a price for it due so many labor hours involved!

@anders, what else do you want to fit in, a coffee machine ?  :D  :D  :D

cheers m8s

Here is a silicon Fuzz Face I rebuilt yesterday.  I originally soldered in BC109 trannies but didn;t like them, so I pulled out the circuit board and removed the BCs and put in sockets.  It was good bit of effort but I went through a pile of transistors before arriving on a 2N2369A for Q1 and a low gain 2N5133 for Q2.  As a result it now sounds good, but isn't so pretty on the inside, as I rushed the job of putting it all back together.

The fuzz has an input trim pot and a bias pot as well as the standard gain and volume.  It is geared towards lower gain sounds, and the combination of the input trimmer with slight overbiasing makes a thick, full sounding overdrive rather than the typical fuzz.  The gain control can be adjusted in combination with the bias to give pretty good control over the high and low end as well.

The enclosure is from Pedal Parts Plus with their brushed translucent candy apple red finish.  It's a bit pricey, but it's quite nice.

Come on now. Seriously. That's just wrong.

...I love it.

There is something seriously sexy about that candy-apple red and those funky knobs - lush

That's freaking beautiful. I love it. Oli - keep up the good work!

I would love to see a layout for that, I would be so happy with a 1590A Fulltone '69, if I were to adapt it for germaniums....

Excellent!  Those are my new favorite knobs, I was wondering if you knew where to buy some?

I got these knobs here in the philippines ;D

I recognize the cig, but why isn't the screwdriver caked with resin?

i dont know why there's no insulation on it, it is 1 of the 6 in a set

That's a great candidate for a 1590A, and great execution!  Strangely, also the first example I've seen of that circuit actually boxed up.

Looks great! Where do you get the metal can 741? I've only got the normal ones...
Also, where can i get some short electrolytics like that?

Steve Mavronis

I have some TO-5 metal can 741's listed below. Is there any advantage to using them over the DIP-8 chip version?

CA741T (RCA H 919)
LM741EH (National Semiconductor H8930)
C UA 741HMQB F8804 Korea

I'm building a DOD 250 Overdrive (gray spec) clone too. I'm curious about these as mojo parts, especially the RCA one.
