Agreed! You've gotta use that stupid opto-isolator circuit if you're going to be making a production MIDI device. I see the purpose if somebody is chaining a whole bunch of MIDI devices together, but for a single MIDI connection (like between a keyboard and a synth) it's overkill. It's not like the 6N13X parts are expensive, it's just an extra nuisance.

I like 'em as I can just read the value rather than trying to decode colored bands.....I really started using them because I was lazy...

haha, no if you look, shes the power supply  lol, 


thats as far out as i could pull the board


i had to put the parts facing in, the electrolyitics were too tall, and i had to use duct tape ( i had some of the silver variety ) to prevent the vero board from grounding itself
