So, here's my (unfinished) 1590A...

I still have to debug it and do some pretty stuff to the enclosure, but I got it all stuffed tonight, so I feel accomplished, and gotta show it off a bit.

I'm calling it the Toe Jam Wah

That is one of thee most AMAZING 1590A projects I have seen!!!     

I don't see a lot of travel on the treadle/rocker for the wha. Can you squeeze a lot of wha-wha out of that small space

There is no way a typical pot wah will fit. I was looking at squeezing one in there.

There is only about 3/16" travel at the heel, which works out to about 1/4" on the mechanism... perfect since that's about the exposed area of the LDR. I screwed up though... got ahead of myself and the mechanism works backwards, but I'll fix that tonight and see if I can't get a quick vid or soundclip tonight. It quacks more than any other wah I've played! I made it "intermediate", so that it works and sounds great on Bass AND Guit-fiddle.

BTW (I'll post the circuit within the next day or two), the circuit I designed for this is a T-filter. I wanted to see if I could make an LDR controlled wah work off the A23 for more than a couple hours. Right now, this circuit will run from a 100uF cap for about 20 seconds before the LED goes dark, then it still amplifies for another 30 seconds or so. I think I hit my goal for a low-power consumption circuit, eh?

The LED is run from the 12V across a 100k resistor, and it still makes enough light to drop the LDR down to about 2-4k (depending on voltage). It is one of the clear bright 5mm's from Tayda. I went through about 20 to get the one that was brightest, but any of them would've worked just fine.

How much sweep do you get? Looks awesome

Tried a video, but DSLR's don't like bass signal much, so I either have to re-install my ADC/DAC or charge a battery for something that handles video a bit better. That's supposed to be a clean signal... I even dropped the low shelf to about -10dbl, and the master volume wimpered in at 2.5. You can hear the Muff kick in, and the Nurse Quacky. NQ sounds wild, eh? For some reason the Toe Jam doesn't sound nearly as good on the video... the nurse rocks, though. (this explains what I did to the nurse, and it was legal... she liked it)

The +1, a SHO Clone, featuring a toggle for diodes to ground (overdrive) and cap to ground (cutting the "sheen"  )

It depends of the circuit you're using, and if the led is Hi-Bright/Lo-Pwr or not.

My FuzzRite Ventures absorbs 50µA (micro-Amperes), and the led absorbs 100µA, so when the pedal is engaged, the total consumption is 150µA : I think it's nearly negligible for an A23 battery, so it will last long, typically to the peremption date. I do not have the experience, but since the pedal have been built in early March and used since in reharsal and live with no variation in voltage, I think you can expect a long life expectancy for the A23 in THIS pedal.

Its an insanely tight fit, but it works. Im still cutting down wires to make the fit as good as possible.
(the PCB is exactly the width of a 1590A so you gotta  cut out slots in the bottom cap sides to make it fit correctly)

I never really got that... when you destroy your signal with distortion afterward, the wah doesn't do much of anything except make it go from smooth to screaching. It does work with Overdrives, or maybe works good with guitfiddle, but for me I like to have a majority of my filtering to be post-destruction. For instance, when I use my Scrynth circuit, any filtering on the front is wiped out... actually, any signal in front is wiped and turned into a pure square. That's why my next NQ is getting split so I can take my envelope off the front and have the filtering taking care of the end signal.

When you use a FF and a Wah, do most people put the wah in front or behind the FF? (asking, because I obviously don't hang out at the same clubs, lol)
