This thread is getting ridiculous.

Ridiculously good, that is!

@david. cool, but shouldnt the wah be at the front of the chain?....

I never really got that... when you destroy your signal with distortion afterward, the wah doesn't do much of anything except make it go from smooth to screaching. It does work with Overdrives, or maybe works good with guitfiddle, but for me I like to have a majority of my filtering to be post-destruction. For instance, when I use my Scrynth circuit, any filtering on the front is wiped out... actually, any signal in front is wiped and turned into a pure square. That's why my next NQ is getting split so I can take my envelope off the front and have the filtering taking care of the end signal.

When you use a FF and a Wah, do most people put the wah in front or behind the FF? (asking, because I obviously don't hang out at the same clubs, lol)

I've never had a problem with squealing with my wah and an overdrive.

I put mine before my fuzzes, but I've got an output buffer.

So, here's my (unfinished) 1590A...

I still have to debug it and do some pretty stuff to the enclosure, but I got it all stuffed tonight, so I feel accomplished, and gotta show it off a bit.

I'm calling it the Toe Jam Wah

Outstanding work. Dude, we need a COMPLETE build report on 'how to make a 1590a into a wah' - c'mon!

Finally pushed it into the case.

Its an insanely tight fit, but it works. Im still cutting down wires to make the fit as good as possible.
(the PCB is exactly the width of a 1590A so you gotta  cut out slots in the bottom cap sides to make it fit correctly)
Gutshot when gut is clean enough :)

this is insane!five knobs?????

9mm and 12mm Alpha pots does the trick. *damned much wireing in cramped area thou :/
12mm@banzai 9mm@banzai
knobs are; Oscillation, Tone, Volume, Power, Gain.
The Christine is an oscillating glitch Fuzz that can do many crazy things, as well as some seriously crisp Fuzz tones.  I'd describe its overall tone as just that, Crisp, I really love it. I use it for its lovely Fuzz tuned to borderline "harsh" with the oscillation/glitzh juuust taking over on the end of bends and lingering notes.
real nice stuff.

Gut's needs overhaul, the problem isnt in so many pots on so little area but rather, all that damned wireing. Not to mention the PCB is to large to fit, really. need to get in there and change the LED anyway soonish, it dont show due to the flash in the picture but thats a blue superbright led. and it hurts my eyes atm.

Hi PereatMundus,

I guess that the Christine Fuzz is similar to the ZVEX FuzzFactory, but maybe with only Si transistor... Am I right ?

Nonetheless, welcome to your silly-compact fuzz unit !

A+!

No, it's completely different from a FF-type circuit, using a (buffered or unbuffered) hex CMOS inverter IC, no discrete transistors. Schematic is available here.

thanks :)
my first tiny-build that is. Need to shorten some of the wireing to make a better fit eventually, and switch out that eye-burning led. other then that it all works well :)

Taylor  responded with more info on the circuit so I wount reply on that :)

That post have a better picture btw

@PereatMundus - I like the rubber extender. And all the black... mmmm.... Black just looks like it's gonna sound badazz! I had to do all black on my friend's Rat... just HAD to.  :icon_twisted:

I got bored at work today, and since we wrap our trophies in newspaper to ship 'em, I started thumbing a couple pages and got an idea, so I did the fastest, dirtiest etch I could. Basically I do a screen print block, this time I did just the letters and then blocked the rest by hand as crappy as I could,  ;D ... then I dropped it in FeCl and let it smoke... literally. Painted the recess and did a nasty wipe across some newspaper and hit it with the belt sander. I figure when it wears down, I'll just do new graphics. Easy as pie!

Give a man Fuzz, and he'll jam for a day... teach a man how to make a Fuzz and he'll never jam again!

azreal and deadastranaut:

I plugged in my gear tonight and screwed around. Basically, I play bass, for starters. The fizz and edge of the distortion override a majority of the filtering because there is a larger spread in pitch between the fundamental note and the distortion overtones. When you filter before, it cuts out everything that makes the bass 'sound' come through, so all ya get is deep low with nasty distortion on top. Even my overdrive sounded bad. With the wah at the end (bad place for foot control, I'll admit), it filters the entire signal, and if you want less of the signal, you split and blend around the wah and mix dry/wet.

But, that's just my method. I like my distortion and OD's and wild, big sounds. My guitarist and I get tastefully 'effects-happy' on a couple songs.

darron,

The finish of your Fetish Booster is truly admirable, and seems to be durable because I think it is etched or engraved before painting and coating (?).
Excellent taste, nonetheless.

i went over it a bit in the picts thread, but it was painted primer, then some base metallic paint, then about 4/5 even passes of candy apple red, then lasered into the red to get the silver text back up, then about 5 coats of thick polyurethane clear (:

we should be asking questions about that Toe Jam Wah....  :icon_eek:

Some sick builds there.  ;)
Just too much tweaking and measuring for my taste.
I tried, but I only get like elektra or SHO in that little f*cker.
