just make sure your etch is deep enough so you dont sand your beautiful and shiny paint like I did...

I'm usually ok at getting a deep etch, I can't seem to find any metallic enamel in the UK tho, would you happen to have a link to the paint you used?

maybe varnish is the right word (wordreference)... acrylic I think
anyway, it was the first time I bought a spray can, I just picked the one I liked the best in a small local store, so nothing special.

I can finally contribute to this thread 
This is my second 1590a build, the first one is being refinished at the moment 
Its a Bazz Fuss   
I wanted to make a fuzz face, but this bazz fuss has more gain and better fuzz than any of the fuzz faces i could bredboard.
Usually they sound a bit farty, but the trick on this one was to increase the 10K resistor to 680K. Now its a killer fuzz
I can switch between a tropical .033uF for a smooth fuzzy distortion(If i remember right) or a electrolyte 3.3uF for a fat, dirty fuzz
The pot controls gain (wired like on the fuzz face)
Its 100K pot, but i will change it to 50K later since the first half of it wont effect the gain at all.

That is actually the transparent copper finish from Pedal Parts Plus.  It's a fantastic looking finish.  And quite durable.
