@ pravudh - those boxes look like they've been chased. v. nice.

@ lars - those knobs come in a shirt-load of colours at tayda. (they come with free, white stress marks in the plastic, too.)

I do use octal loop that make easy to identify each time clicking. ;D
Tayda electronics  have many knob , fair price and fast shipping.

I think it's worth spending a bit more for the real Davies (or at least better quality clones).  The quality of the Tayda version is terrible.

Hi, I alway built with 125B this is my first time with 1590A.

These are really nice.  Great etch work.

Nothing cheating about SMT components.  It's one of the ways to make things small.  :-). Got any pics of the inside?

Great etch, btw.  I like the addition of color.

Here it comes. I hope the smd side is enough and the rest can be deduced from the layout? There are some (many) capacitors that can easily be replaced by TH ones, because they don't overlap with the parts on the top-side. However, I really do like these small laddies. PLUS: I don't have to drill the two  holes for them. And they are not harder to solder than through-hole.

The jacks had to be worked on by "mein Freund der Dremel", then everything fitted smoothly. Next time, maybe I'll take care of the connections for the LED and the jacks during the layouting. But for now, the cables on the PCB are just fine for me.

The schematic for this layout can be found here:

Thanks for that, topopiccione!

Yours, Lars

Next one! This one took some long long hours to box up.

I followed the layout from solderman (http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=83321.msg692170#msg692170) for the John Hollis Ultraflanger. Thank you, solderman! Only one change to the layout: I stuck to the original schematic, using two LEDs and a 1N914 for the 3.8V opamp voltage thingy instead of the trimpot solderman suggested.

I hope I'll never have to re-open that box.

Lars - Fantastic look you've come up with!

pastiche

First go at a 1590a. EM drive. Sounds good, saves space.
No comprehension of how anyone puts 5 pots in one of these though.
Admitted I an using cliff style sockets, will try open ones next one.

Riot build with an 80's type zebra graphic.  Gonna go grab a can of Aqua Net and rock out.

Hey pickdropper, it looks so easy! How comes it never IS when I got one of these enclosures on my workbench? I guess you could place a whole week's shopping in a 1590a. I must admit, I am envious. Great work.

Thanks Lars.  There's nothing magical about 1590a builds (as you obviously know).  It gets a lot better once you develop a routine.  I know I have to plan a bit less than I used to.  I can usually see in my head how the PCB is going to fit while I am doing the layout.

Has anybody an idea where to get small knobs like these in different coulours? Here in Germany it's impossible to source others than the black ones.

Hey Lars, I usually order them from Germany: http://www.musikding.de/Mini-curlknob

Some more little boxes, no SMDs or SMTs...

rocklander

nice army of little'uns!
what design/layout are you using for the reverb?

adielricci

Rocklander, I used a Belton medium block, and a real mix of other reverb circuits, mostly based upon the Rub-a-Dub, though most component values were different, trimmed "by ear".  I think I have the changes somewhere...   :)

That's really cool, Dave.  And as a bonus, incredibly useful too.   :icon_cool: :icon_cool: :icon_cool:

That looks amazing! Couldn't you do that with three pots? (ducks head and runs away....)
