after 3 hours of uninterrupted soldering i have finished the skyripper...after 15 minutes i biased the trannies...after 3 minutes i discover that it's completly quiet...no sound  :icon_biggrin:

i think that i mis-solder some wires...there are a lot...i think that a more clear wiring diagram would be very useful...

i omitted only the bias pot...i put the battery wires straight to the PCB...i think that can be a problem...

i will test every of his 3 parts today...i hope i will find the bug soon...

There is a lot of wiring in the Skyripper. Use both the pdf document and the Joe's schematic to help you.

One thing you should build next is an "Audio Probe" with this you can touch different points in the circuit (with your guitar plugged in and playing or with a CD player pugged in) and hear what each section sounds like. You will be able to trace through the circuit and hear where the sounds stops. Then you will know where to look for problems.

Which version did you build?
What are the voltages of the transistors?

sad, but true...after 3 hours of debugging i have discovered that 2 switches didn't work :D

now it works, but i can't test it very well because here it's 1:30 AM...tomorrow for sure i will spend a lot of time with it :)

now i have only question: what is the buffer for and, especially the dual buffer pot?

i have only single coils on my squier...i can use it only at maximum...at minimum it's only a strong hiss and between don't sounds very well...

the buffer pot actually is a simple cross fader that pans between the buffered and unbuffered signal. you can see that it is wired like a dpdt switch for bypass.

in the in between settings there is gain reduction as well as some phase interaction.
depending on how you set the other skyripper controls this can be very useful. i have found that the most useful settings are between full cw or full ccw,and up to 30% off each end.
good luck!
my life is a tribute to the the great men and women who held this country together when the world was in trouble. my debt cannot be repaid, but i will do my best.

ok...thx a lot again..you are very a nice man...and the skyripper it's a fabulous stompbox!!
