Can 12AX7 be used in The Tube Cricket?

I'm just asking because I have a couple on my hands (replaced some preamp tubes in my amp for lower gain ones) and it would drop 7,something euros from my next order.

I am not farmiliar with the circuit, but I am assuming that it uses a 12au7? If so, than you cannot really use a 12ax7. While it will work with the ax7, it more than likely will not sound good. Check this thread http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=63479.0  . There was a discussion there about the same issue. I also suggest you read through the whole thing, as there is some very good information in there.

Thanks for answering. I think I will fit that Tube Cricket to my next months budget.(eyelet board construction=expensive Mojo parts)
