I saw this neat Line6 expression unit at http://www.myspace.com/redrocketbox

I would like to build one of these for my MM4 unit. What type of pot would one use for an expression pedal?

And how would I wire the pot to the jack.

Thanks to anyone that can shed light on this cool little tool. I had my pedal modded by Keeley and it sounds fantastic.

This will offer me some 4 additional sounds  ;D

If it's like an XT Live, it wants to see a 0 to 20K ohm resistance between tip and sleeve.  Any 20K pot wired as a rheostat will work.  I find an audio taper works better for controlling the wah.

On the XTL it can be used as the assignable 'tweek', or mapped to wah or volume.  Put it on your guitar instead of a tone control, then map it to anything.  Amp master volume is particularly handy IMHO.

Hmm Thanks that gives me some ideas. I may call line6 and see what kind of pot they use on their ex. pedal.

Hi, 10K linear taper will be fine, they use a weird dual 20K pot in their EX-1 pedal, that is wired in parallel, so it amounts to 10K.  I believe the pedal adjusts to whatever is plugged in when it saves the toe and heel settings, though, so it isn't totally critical.

Like Ardric said, you use a mono jack, and wire the tip to the center lug of the pot, and the sleeve to one of the outer legs of the pot.  Thats it.
