Greetings all...

Does anyone know of a source for buying PCB mounted jacks and 9V adapters as shown in the picture below?

I've come to the conclusion that I dread wiring jacks, switches, and adapters, which is why I can't seem to finish a project.  I saw a thread yesterday on this forum pertaining to mounting these components directly on a PCB, which I find very appealing.  Does anyone else have a fear of wiring like me?

Rock on!

Why not just get everything shown in the photo.

The photo you have posted is Soggy's awesome combination PCB/PPH (pad per hole) board with mounted switch and jacks. Its quite unique and he sells them!
I got two boards from him last summer and he included the DC and 1/4" jacks for a very reasonable price and he takes PayPal too.
The rest is up to the US Postal system and you!
Soggy's web site also has several projects with layouts to fit his board.

I would suggest emailing him from his website, or send a PM to his forum account.

Otherwise, mouser has the DC jacks and I think so does SB.
You want 2.1mm size.

The PCB mounted footswitch is another case.
DPDT switches with pcb "pins" are available in small quantities.
To do a 3PDT I would just do what Soggy does.
Really, really big pads to fit the Big Blue switch most of us use.

Thanks Dave.

I had saved the picture but then I couldn't find the thread again, and I couldn't remember who it was who sold these cool boards.

This one looks interesting and is cheap.

But where to get it on this side of the pond?

I've used these from Small Bear.

And these but I prefer the kind with a metal nut and threads on the inside. Ferrel type?

Amp suppliers often have these types of 1/4" jacks. There are lots of sources.

Mounting the jacks, power supply plug, pots, etc. on the pcb is sometimes considered as a risky affair.  If these components take a bad hit, the copper can lift on your PCB and might leave broken contact.  If some components are srcewed to the case and forced, you can have the same problem.  In some old army book I've read that monting these components on the chassis and connecting them to the pcb with flexible wire is more convenient.   You might think "I'm not building an F-32 fighter" but...   Once I had a live music presentation to do in dance show.  I had only one distortion box (a smooth Yamaya DI-100).  The power jack broke the PCB and I didn't know it was that.  I tought I've blown something up.  I had to get an other dist. box, and have read before that the Metal zone was a "good one".  Let me tell you it was a bit more heavy (me=stupid) :icon_confused:  than what it should have been.  The little girls were not very happy.

So the lesson is: for live application when you don't have time to test everything and your pedalboard can be complicated even with a few effects don't take the chance.  Otherwise, you might not be falling with your F-32 but shame could be on you :icon_redface:
