Power supply question

I have a wallwart which has this information on it:

Pri: 230V AC 50 Hz 15.5W
Sec: 12V DC 500mA 6VA MAX

I wonder if I could use this for a machine on which the following requirements are written:

Power supply:
Input voltage 230v 50Hz 16VA
Output voltage 12v
Output current 500mA max

I know it would probably work fine, but being stupidly ignorant in the realm of power supplies I still need to ask...

Anyone ?

The input and output voltages are the same, and the current capability is the same.

It doesn't specify AC or DC in the second one there though...

VA means "Volts times Amps" ...also known as Watts.  (P=IV)

Oh, and USE YOUR METER AND FIND OUT IF IT'S AC OR DC!!!  You could very well destroy something if you feed AC into a device that wants DC.  Yes, I am speaking from experience.
