Okay, novice question perhaps.

What can you make with Germanium radio frequency power bjt in audio?
Is it useful for audio-only projects (stompboxes, little amps, etc.)?
What is happening when you put small-signal ge RF transistors in a stompbox for a simple fuzz ?
What happens when you saturate a ge power bjt, can you have a decent sound? (ex: output stage of small amp)?

I have bought sanyo 2sb474 by error and don't know what to do with them. :icon_neutral:

Thanks in advance.

First thing to do is to measure hfe and leakage using RG method found at http://www.geofex.com/Article_Folders/fuzzface/fffram.htm
Next step most users here would do is to test them in a Fuzz Face, Rangemaster or Tonebender, if they have the right gain and leakage.

Do not worry if they are power, switching or RF transistors. Check gain and leakage, and noise/hiss.

Try it you never know ;D
I pulled a couple transistors out of an old radio which measured like PNP Germaniums.
The closest cross reference I could find had them listed as a low power FET, but I tried them in a Fuzz Face build and they sound very good.
So you might get lucky.

I took some notes before on 3 of them,
Leak : About 230 uA for the 3
Gain: About 60 for the3 of them
Noise: Will test.

Thaks again Marcello :)
