Ok start from the top

Been getting organs on freecycle for parts etc and with the hope of getting midified bass pedals.

The plan was to maybe use the core module and Din unit from Ucapps but a bit technical at the moment. So was holding back and just having fun ripping the organs apart.

I have been selling inductors etc on here and advertised some parts on  vintagesynthrepair  group on Yahoo. Got an email back from a chap who seemed a bit vague asking what I had, so I told him. He didn't seem that interested especially when I asked what he wanted to pay etc.

But strangely enough he said ring him with an exclamation mark. Thought he was being rude but rang him anyway.

Well I rang him ......bloody hell it was like talking to RG and the other boffins on here. Hes a modular synth man and what he didn't know wasn't worth knowing. Anyway he said he's pop round to check my stash.

So he turns up with 2 broken Evolution MKS149 midi keyboards (one key broken each) for free. Made him a brew, and he then goes on to show me how to make the bass pedals.

Fantastic stuff. Looking at the keyboards its just a case of wiring the switches to the ends of the diodes and the common plus if needed there is a second switch that controls aftertouch which could be added, with same diode arrangement.

So now just cleaning up the pedals then on to the wiring, can't believe its so easy . I know its not velocity sensitive etc but ist just what I need.

I hope to put the work up on a thread soon enough.

This chap (Brian) was so helpful but also he seems to know where to find everything etc He thinks he might be able to get some dpdt footswitches so keep your eyes peeled (he's talking 1000 in a pig farm NOS!)

So another new friend through DIY , great isn't it.

If anybody needs any help with synths or has some schematics that they would like to share let me know and I'll pass this information on.

Thanks for reading my ramblings

Not sure why I felt the need to share this with you just thought I'd show help comes in all forms.

Hey you wouldnt' happen to have the membrane switches for a Fender Chroma Polaris lying around in your pile of synth parts by any chance would you?

Austin73

I have no Idea what those are - well not true but not sure. Most of the organ stuff is on off big switches I have the rubber membranes from the MKS149 But will ask around if you like.

Where you based?

Hey Cardboard

Contacted the synth chap not lloking good I'm afraid, heres what he sent.

Hi Austin

Tell him I will pay him £50 for the Polaris as without
its switches it is just a preset synthesizer

I have one here that I was given as the membrane
switches packed up and there are no replacement parts

Basically it is stuck with what is in the memory
unless you want to buy the original Chroma and use the
propriety interface, that way you can reprogram the
Polaris
