I have a very early Dunlop Crybaby, with the stack of dimes inductor, hand-wired jacks, etc.  When I first got the pedal, it had the original Carling SPDT switch in it.  I also noticed some static noise in the wah sound as the treadle was rocked back and forth.  I checked my battery, and it only had 7 volts.  After replacing it with a new battery, the static went away.

Last night I wired the pedal for true bypass using a Carling DPDT.  The bypass works great, but now I'm getting static noise again when the treadle is rocked back and forth.  What could be wrong?

Probably just a worn pot (the symptoms suggest this).  Also, check for DC on the output with a meter (though IIR, there's no electrolytic at the output so probably nothing to worry about).
