Recommend alternatives to T.S. for blues

jpm83 is onto something there.  With the gain turned down, the TS is a mild thing. 
Speaking of mild, Marh Hammer's idea (Rangemaster) is a good one, IMO.  Or KISS with a "flat" booster (Stratoblaster is good).
There are many nice CD4049-based circuits out there, too.  Mark Hammer is a source of knowledge for those, too.

I just breadboarded that Gus Overdrive and man that sounds great. This thing is as responsive to guitar volume knob as Fuzz Face and might just be what you are looking for. If you have a breadboard give it a try.

  IIRC Gus's OD is a good candidate for a 'Radio Shack' distorter too.
