Hi,
I would like to fatten the bottom end a bit on my RAT.  Already did the Reutz mod, unsure if I like it yet.  Would increasing the 0.022uf caps on the input and output be a good place to start?  or would things just get flabby.
BY the way its a BYOC rat.
thanks for any ideas.

try a .047uF on the output and see if its ok,then try .047uF on the input (with the .047uF on the output) and see.if you still need more try .1uF on the output.

LED clipping will also help

i recently built a BYOC RAT and when built to spec, i didn't like it much. I ended up socketing alot of the components including the input and output caps.

right now i have a 2.2uf tantelum cap for OUT and a 0.1uf cap INPUT. I think it sounds good. the BYOC has it's "overdrive modes" which have alot less bass response. The bigger input cap helps with those sounds alot. That's the trouble of these multi-voiced things, I feel it's always a balening act between them.

Hi
A graphic equaliser is designed to do just that.
If you just cut the top end (ie turn the filter up), Rats usually sound weak and muddy).  The caps have little or no effect, and I can't see how different clipping diodes would affect the low end, as they basically affect the upper harmonics.  ie. LEDs and "sharper" diodes with high Vf produce more upper harmonics than "softer" diodes with low Vf.

According to my simulation, changing the 560 ohm resistor to 220 will add 3db of bass at 100Hz.  Reducing it to 100 ohm will add a bunch of lower mids in addition to lows.  A 1K trim pot would work well here.  This may make it too wooley/muddy, so then try reducing the input cap to 1n or 2n.   :icon_cool:
