How would I wire in a dc jack like this?

Radio-crap didn't have the regular plastic, 3 pole type of dc jack that I see everybody use in all of their builds.  Instead they just had this coaxial one with two prongs.

One juts out of the middle of the jack, and one coming from a sort of sleeve.  I'm assuming that I solder the positive wire from the battery clip to the middle one jutting out, and also solder a wire going from it to the 9v input on the board, then connect to sleeve to the ground.

That does not appear to be a switched jack, so plugging in an adapter would not disconnect the battery like you want.

You could just leave the battery out of the equation until you get the right jack.

Edit: also, if you're using a center-negative power supply, then the sleeve of the jack is positive, meaning it needs to be isolated from the enclosure (unless you're using wood or plastic). The center lug would be ground. Unless it's set up really odd--check continuity if uncertain.
