Mike, and ciberk, maybe you haven't read all the posts in the original valvecaster thread...
Well, this layout was developed by me based on original Dano point-2-point work. It's not so difficult because of the limited numbers of components involved, actually I tweaked the layout a bit, as this is my 5th version.
Let me tell you 2 things...
1) The tone pot is wired correctly this way, it's one of the correction I made, thanks to someone that pointed that out.
2) This layout should be correct - I built it personally, but am waiting the rest of parts to get a full working Valvy.
(I'll let you know next week...)
It's my goal to test the layout I made, but as for the thread, it seems to work for other members.
At the same time, this circuit is easy enough to check it again, a thing that I could do and maybe you too...
Just start from Dano version and check connections...
Let's see how it goes...

The layout you use has the tone pot wired wrong.  It shows lug 1 of the tone directly wired to lug 3 of the volume pot, which is incorrect according to the schematic.  I think the wiring of the gain pot in that layout is suspect also.

No I tell you it's wired correctly - you may also want to see Dano's original THAT way it worked the opposite (more bass clockwise - more highs cclockwise)

Right on.  All I could tell was that the layout was backward from the schematic.  Well actually you can't really tell because the schematic doesn't have lug numbers!  Just my best guess...

the layout IS different then the schematic. But I have realized for building that this difference makes no difference at all.
The schematic shows C4 going from C3 to lug 3 of VRtone. Then lug 2 (Or 2+1 if you want) going to ground. Dano decided to do it differently to minimize connections. Ill draw it out in your mind for you....See the schematic, cut C4 and paste it AFTER the pot to ground. there you have it, Now C3 goes to pin 3 of both volume and tone, thus why they are jumpered in the layout. No to make Bass all the way left and treble all the way right you switch the jumper to pin 1 Of tone.

I hope this helps. I was really puzzled when building mine and this took another hour jsut to figure out.

Mine works, and its laid out like the layout you posted.
