Isolated input jack w/ power switching

If I run all my grounds to the same single point, can I still run a stereo input jack to use as a power switch?

It would go RING to 9v neg and then SLEEVE to my single ground point just as usual? And it wouldn't drain the battery with nothing plugged in? Thanks!

Also, what do most pedal builders use as a star ground? A screw in the chassis or some sort of tab?

You're over complicating this I think. Run all your grounds (apart from your power inlet ground, which should be isolated from the chassis) to the SLEEVE tab of your TRS input jack. Then run the power inlet ground to the RING of the TRS. Job done. So, when a jack is inserted, it completes the power circuit and connects all the grounds.

That makes sense, thank you. But what if my output jack is also isolated  :icon_eek: ?

I'm using a regular metal enclosure with these jacks...

Just run a lead from the output jack SLEEVE to the SLEEVE of the input jack. I see where you're going with this now - chassis grounding. You could ground the chassis by connecting a further lead between the input jack sleeve and a point on the chassis. There may be a reason for why you are using isolated in and out jacks -maybe you just happen to have some and are using them up - but normally its a lot easier to use non-isolated jacks in stompboxes (assuming there's no special reason to use isolated) so that the chassis is properly grounded without having to make an additional connection. The other benefit is that you don't need to make any output jack ground connection (such as the connection between input and output sleeves I mentioned above), since this connection is made through contact with the chassis.
