So i first built a Bosstone with this layout -

Sounded too off. Like it was very unbiased. Didn't work for me. Don't know the issue.

So I rebuilt with this one -

This one worked out better. I socketed the transistors and diodes. It sounded like a good over the top fuzz. Good sound. I was playing with different transistors and it still worked without the PNP Q2. I suppose it should. The fuzz was tamed a bit it sound great that way too. Just a little less muddy. Very nice! I suppose it could be cool to be able to switch Q2 in and out with a switch. I put mine in a tiny box though. I read that putting a .22 input cap in can give octave down. If that sounds good i could put a switch for that.

Here's a pic. Looks real cool. It's cream colored. Flash made it look white. Can't figure where to put a LED.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong...but I think Q2 simply gives a low impedance output.
And then I wonder why ALL pedals don't have one?

I made the same mistake and it worked fine too.

weird that my layout didnt work..its been built by several people successfully....including myself.

Looks like an LED might fit right in the "mouth" on the skull.

Yeah it's probably my fault. I had a piece of board that was perfect for the other layout. And wanted sockets this time.

An LED in the mouth would be best. I shouldn't mess with it though. Drilling might ruin the decal. Unless it's well clear-coated I suppose.
