I assume a fuzzrite would be OK. If I'm right which one: germanium, silicon ?

Has anybody got any idea?

Fuzzrite?  Sure!  I'd say silicon--my Ge one is more polite.  Need some reverb, too.  And a SS Vox Super Beatle.  And a Mosrite Ventures model...;)

Thanks,

OK so I'm gonna go the silicon fuzzrite way. I've found a schematic using 2N3904 transistors. What range of hfe would you recommend ?

a shin-ei companion fuzz FY-2 through a fender amp and an EQ to dial in the mids and filter out the lows would be a bonus. for that matter and EQ w/ any nasty fuzz would get you close enough!

Well the Vox Beatle basically has a fuzz face in it......it only works with the hard to find footswitch so alot of people don't know, or didn't know it is there!

I used 2n5089s, and it is too too much, but I had problems with the bias(I posted a question on this but no Fuzzrite fans were out and about at the time).  The ends of travel on the pots are useless for anything but FWAHHHH, but sometimes that is just what you need!
The shin-ei sounds great for this stuff too.

Would BC108 a better choice for the silicon Fuzzrite?

Do the transistors need to have same hfe?

the shin ei ieieeieie is the way to go, knock off the filter at the end nd you'll have this sound!
