I really like the 3-knob Tonebender, but I'd like to be able to build one with NPN silicon transistors, ... that is without having to compromise (too much) on sound.  Making it NPN isn't that much of a challenge, and I read a couple of times that the first 2 trannies can be swapped with silicon trannies, but the 3rd trannie and the diode need to be germanium to sound right.  What would be the barriers to use silicon in these places?  I'd like to understand this, so that we can think about a way to work around this...  Could this be solved by piggybacking silicon trannies?  It worked for the Fuzz Face, so why not in here?

Here's the link to the Fuzzcentral website I'm using as a reference: http://fuzzcentral.ssguitar.com/3knob.php

Using the function for the phrase "3 knob tonebender" I was able to come up with this thread from 2 weeks ago....
