Starting with DragonFly's Jordan Bosstone http://www.aronnelson.com/gallery/main.php/v/DRAGONFLY-LAYOUTS_0/album18/album151/JORDAN_BOSSTONE_PERF_LAYOUT_001.gif.html layout, I took to modifying the one I built.
Its not quite there yet, still want to make some other changes, but what I have so far sounds interesting.
Its starts by changing R5 (I have shown C4 in this drawing so you know what goes where. C4 DOES NOT GET CHANGED IN THIS ONE)

Its got some interesting sounds. If you pick REALLY lightly on the wound strings, you get some sort of an octave effect (and yes, I have seen the changes to this box to give an octave effect, just didn't feel like driving the 60+ miles to get the parts for it).
Its a bit grittier than stock.

A few things to be aware of: The volume goes WAY down, which as far as I am concerned is ok, since the volume control goes up way too high IMO in stock form. But it still goes a little bit louder that with it off.
There is a boost in sound still.

Another thing, IMPORTANT, the 390K or the 480k resistor, you may want to drop those values a little bit because when you turn the Attack pot to 100%, you get hum (more pronounced on a single coil than humbuckers).
if you keep the values I used, just back off the Attack a bit (to like 90% or so).
This hum didn't happen when I had the board on my bench, only when I put it in a case (A shielded ABS case).

Well have fun and if anyone decides to try this mod out, post your results, thoughts, etc.

And I'll see if I can upload a sound clip tomorrow. I'm on dialup so it may take forever :(

Hey! Thanks for posting this. After Mark's pedal party yesterday I came home thinking a Jordan Bosstone is something I absolutely can no longer live without. :)

Bosstones are wonderful pedals.

Transistor choice is a HUGE key to getting  a great sound.

Thanks for the tip. I've got a handful of misc 2n's here. I'll spend some time swapping things around.

Thats what I did with mine. Used a 2N2222 with and hfe of 285 (or 301 I forget :)).
Now I'm out of sockets :( The last few I had I took out of uhm...some old board. I got loads of old electronics here to rob stuff from :)
And damnit...I went ot Rat Shack today and forgot those caps for the input and output...damnit.
Oh well, maybe I can scavenge from something.
I got parts for the Mosrite FuzzRite.

Ok, so its been more than a day since I first posted.
Sound clip is here:
http://www.soundclick.com/util/downloadSong.cfm?ID=6591830

Nothing fancy, just the A Major scale.
Using 1996 Fender Mexican Strat, bridge pickup; Vox AD50VT set on UK 70's using Line out into a Tascam DP-02.
Played several different ways:
1. Clean, guitar volume at 10
Effect on;
2. Attack @ 8, Level @10, Guitar volume @ 10
3. Attack @ 8, Level @10, Guitar volume @ 5
4. Attack @ 2, Level @10, Guitar volume @ 5
5. Attack @ 2, Level @10, Guitar volume @ 10

Theres a few spots there were you can hear a really strong octave effect.

Ok, the sound I really want to get, maybe not with Jordan Bosstone, but with whatever it takes basically.
if you listen to my sound sample, at around 42 and 46 seconds is the sound I want.
