Hi,

I'm totally new and am building for my first project the A/B/Y box from generalguitargadgets.com. There are no jumpers in the bill of materials but the wiring diagram shows 3 jumpers on the PCB - http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/pdf/ggg_amp_aby.pdf - I figured these would just be segments of insulated wire connecting the 2 points on the circuit but when I looked at photos of their finished pedal board there were transistor-looking components (tan with 1 dark ring around the center) in the place for the 3 jumpers - http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/pics/amp_aby_inside1.jpg - what are these parts exactly and what is generally used for jumpers when building effects? I also did a search at Small Bear Electronics for "jumper" with no results.

Thanks!

That makes sense - especially given I meant to say resistor-looking and said transistor-looking. Thanks!

Maybe zero ohm resistors.

Yeah those things are zero ohm resistors. You can just use offcuts of the resistor and capacitor leads to make jumpers, that's what most people do.

Okay, I've seen photos of this as well and assumed it was stripped wire. Thanks!

I use stripped wire, cap and resistor leads. They're both cool. For long jumpers I don't even strip them.

I keep meaning to get some plain copper wire for jumpers but keep forgetting. ::)

Does anyone know where you can get those zero ohm resistors?  I just use bare wires, but it might be cool to get a bunch of those.  Does Mouser or someone stock them?

Paul Perry (Frostwave)

You can usually get them from anyone who sells resistors.
My first commercial board had a bunch of different length jumpers - NEVER AGAIN! it gets pretty annoying cutting a bunch of jumpers up to different lengths.

Digikey also has them
1/4 Watt, Zerohm Jumper, Bulk Package Qty 5 for $0.30
Part # 0.0QBK-ND

Thanks for the part numbers, since I'm going to order from Mouser soon, I'll add it to my order.

Just wanted to let you guys know that the part number above is not in stock at Mouser, but I found some 1/4 watt, Xicon zero ohm jumpers there:   Part# 291-0-RC
