Pot changing

Hi everybody...I've decided to buy all the stuff I need on the web..but I have a problem with pot: It's difficult tu find the exact matching pot..and I wish I can use only alpha pot...
what if I substitute a 4.7k with a 5k, a 470k with a 500 and things like that? up to now I'm building the Omnidrive from Geofex...
