I got a few emails that Steve at Small Bear was out of my book, "PCB Layout For Musical Effects" so I ordered a new printing.

The order status is that they have all been printed and the covers have been printed. What remains is to bind the covers to the bodies and ship them. I'm guessing a couple of days for binding and then 7-9 days shipping, so if you put "two weeks" in your mental clock, you probably won't be far wrong.

They raised the printing prices per book a bit; this printing will be $34.95.

is the book sold anywhere in europe? or just US?

R.G.

I believe that Banzai gets them from Small Bear. Check there. Small Bear also ships internationally on a regular basis.

didnt find on the site of banzai, but send an email, gonna wait to see if they have
the problem of buying from US is the extra taxes... its like 25% over the price+shipping for no good reason...  :icon_confused:
thanks anyway  ;)

It's good book for beginners and vets.   :D
I've Been doing PCBs for a while and still found lots of great information in it and it's just my small way to give back to someone who has generously provided constructive information and sharing of knowledge to help me build components and devices that I cant find out on the market.

BTW, I sent RG PM thanking him for the book but I guess between counting his money and making effects didn't have the time to acknowledge the "small" guys.    ;D

(this is an unsolicited shameless plug, just my personal opinion)   :D

Sorry - taxes bite all of us. I'll see if I can set up something. I wonder if the same tax markup would happen when I sell the books to the retailer there. It may not be much less expensive if they buy it from me. I don't know how your taxes work.

Come to think of it, I don't know how OUR taxes work.  US tax law is (in)famous. Even our IRS tax people will not stand by what they tell you about taxes when you ask for help. If they tell you wrong, you're STILL going to get penalties. :icon_eek:

Yeah... it's that "counting the money" thing...  :icon_lol:  I hope they pay New York Times bestseller authors better.  :icon_wink:
Actually, I don't hit PMs on the forum much. I'll go see if I can find it. Sorry I missed it.

this taxes im talking about is the taxes of importation, in my case from countrys outside the EU, and its basically a thief lol, you end up paying twice, the taxes in the country you bought the product, and then again in your own, and the last is calculated over the price+shipping!!
for example:
lets say i buy something for 80dollars, add the taxes from US(dont really know the name) and it goes to 100dollars, then you add shipping for example goes to 120dollars, then when it arrives here, it stays on the "border" and i have to play something around 25% of 120dollars!(not the 80 of the product)  :o

btw, i got anwer from banzai, they never had the book ehe, the guy said he tryed to contact you but you didnt awnser  :D

gonna consider buying from US
thanks  ;)

Well, you shouldn't be paying U.S. sales tax since it is being shipped out of the country. You may try asking for a customs exemption for the book. A number of countries do not charge duties on books and magazines but you have to ask for it and it has to be on the invoice or packing list that it is a book or magazine.

well, one time i order i payed the way i said... probably depends on what kind of product, dont know
where do i ask for that exception??
thanks for the info

You will need to ask your customs people if there are exemptions for books and magazines. Then also have them tell you if it needs to be marked on the invoice or packing list and let the guy you are buying from know to mark it as the customs people said.

I had to ship some stuff to a guy in Poland a number of years ago and they didn't charge duties or taxes on books and magazines BUT they were VERY particular on the wording to use on the invoice. I marked it as he said and it went through with no problem.
