Guys where i can get those old fationed carbon resistors? I finally got Whipple inductor and gonna remake my Cry Babe. I still have no idea what is important about carbon res. and how they can change the sound but people seem to like it :)

If you like noise. I doubt you will notice any "Kharma" with pedals. The reason old effects and tube amps used CC's back then is that's all they had available cheaply. The "Kharma" is usually associated with Boutique tube amps, claiming the CC's create the old Fender Vibe.If I remember reading correctly,it is "thought" they add a minute amount of inductance and or capacitance.  If you want to try them, Mouser carries them.

See GEOFEX, (http://www.geofex.com), 3/22/02 "Use of Carbon Comp Resistors for Magic Mojo".

While you're there, read the rest of GEO. It will save you a huge amount of time asking questions.

I had two identical sounding wahs at one time (same circuit as well), and modded one with all Carbon Comps just to see if it made a difference in tone.  I had to find out for myself, as one person says no difference, and the other says it warms it up.

Anyway, once I was done with the mods, I was able to plug both in series so I could quickly switch back and forth between the two pedals without having to rely on memory or recordings for listening to differences.
Result:
No difference in tone, no difference in the amount of noise introduced.

Would I do it again?  Probably not, unless I simply wanted a wah that looked good under the hood.

I don't know what the difference in a wah would be, but the first mod I did to my old Dunlop Fuzz Face was to replace the resistors with carbon comp, and it noticeably warmed up the sound.  I changed nothing else at that point.  I'm sure the results may vary depending on the type of circuit your using.

That was probably just due to value variances, unless you actually measured each component.

Dead right!
