Another vote for 2N2219A, i have a pair in the AxisFace Si, they are between 100 and 120 in hfe if I recall correctly... Great sounding transistors!

I was selling matched pairs of 2219a's on ebay for a bit specifically for silicon FFs... great sounding transistors.

47k or 100k instead of 33k at Q1C ?

Honestly, I've used all those values...as well as 10k, 22k, 27k, 68k, and 82k...and as long as Q2 is around 1/2 Vcc then Q1 biases within limits. A bit different sound with each...a 100k trimmer is a nice way to find the value that you like.....

Hi
Quotelower the value of feedback resistor. I´ve used 68k

I like this, too.  Even 47k.

BD139 is a classic for Q2. hFE around 150.  Has anyone tried old 2N3055s for Q1 ? (yes, they are power transistors)

Ferrite beads create a 1-pole roll-off filter way up above the audio range.  Very popular in the 1970s and 1980s.  e.g. in the RIAA pre-amps in hi-fi gear.  There should be info somewhere on how many nH (or pH?) they create on the base of a transistor.
cheers

I havent tried 3055's, but i like 3053's...

different things, but you mentioning the 3055's reminded me.

I have had good results in the past with the un-numbered BD139 type transistors that you get in a low energy lightbulb. You just have to remember that they are ECB pinout, and they're free!!

I always take things off low energy lights. Also from dichroic lights dead transformers.

Yep, Ive made a few things from light bulb parts too :)
