Need a hand with an Axis Face

Hi All;

I am having troubleshooting an Axis Face Silicone ver 3 box.  This is the one from the fuzzcentral.  All of the parts are as per the BOM.  The circuit board is homebrewed and I have looked at it a couple times with my magnifying loop to check that the solder joints didn't flow over.  I also check all the grounds for continuity and they are OK.  That said, I don't have a lot of experience with stompboxes but do with tube amps and shops skills in general so a little theory in your reply won't hurt :-)

There is no output.  I am running a 1k sine wave into the box and can follow the signal to the Base on the BD139.  The 10k trim pot puts 8.9 VDC on the collector but has no effect on the voltage -- regardless of where I set it.  Lugs 2 and 3 are on the 100pf side of the board.  Also, the signal gets knocked down to almost nothing going through 100k series resistor to the emitter on Q2 and the Attack pot.

I did crank the signal generator all the way up and there was a faint pattern on the output jack but only at levels dogs could hear.

Any help would greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Skip

Are you sure you put the trannies right positioned? Do you checked by the datasheet?

Did you checke the copper tracks in your PCB for short circuits and continuity?

I know I´m talking really basic stuff, but the obvious for some can be not so obvious for others...
Pagan and happy!

check the debugging thread stickied at the top of this forum, get your info together, and report back.

It was a cold solder joint.  I'm not used to working on components this small -- probably should get another soldering iron.  The things sounds pretty good!

Thanks for looking in on me.  sh
