Should the uglyface work as expected with a buffer in front?

Hello all.

I'm working on a parallel effects box. I just had my first try at mixing two of the channels. After some debugging I've got the clean blended with the uglyface as expected. The only problem is the uglyface (which was previously working) now sounds extremely thin and nasally. I had to change a few of the wires when converting the uglyface from a standalone pedal to part of the multi-effects box (disconnect jacks, re-route grounds and +9v). I'm wondering if these are known to not play well with buffers in front of them? (I would think it would help) Or more than likely I screwed up something and I'll have the mistake staring me in the face in an hour. Thanks!

Putting a buffer in front of an uglyface shouldn't make any difference at all.
